Galerie Claude Lemand.

The Claude Lemand Gallery was founded in October 1988, with an inter­na­tional out­look on artists from around the world who have made Paris their home, a place of cre­ative expres­sion, and a hub of inter­na­tional influ­ence. Claude Lemand was one of the first gal­lerists and col­lec­tors to cham­pion modern and con­tem­po­rary European artists from the Arab world and its dias­poras, through the orga­ni­za­tion of solo and group exhi­bi­tions, the pub­li­ca­tion of cat­a­logues, mono­graphs and artists’ books, and the pro­duc­tion of graphic works, pho­tographs and sculp­tures, without ever seeking any sub­si­dies.

In October 2008, to mark the 20th anniver­sary of his gallery, Claude Lemand opened a second space (70 avenue Jean Moulin, Paris 14), ded­i­cated to show­casing major works by his artists and preparing ret­ro­spec­tives and large-scale the­matic exhi­bi­tions, which the gallery orga­nizes in France and abroad. In June 2018, Claude and France Lemand donated 1,300 works of art to the Arab World Institute Museum in Paris, par­tic­i­pated in orga­nizing tem­po­rary exhi­bi­tions, and con­tinued to expand their col­lec­tion, which now num­bers nearly 2,000 works.

In March 2020, Claude Lemand closed his first gallery and orga­nized exhi­bi­tions of his artists, span­ning three gen­er­a­tions, in his new gallery or in partner museums, both in France and inter­na­tion­ally. The Galerie Claude Lemand rep­re­sents the Shafic Abboud Estate and the Abdallah Benanteur Estate.

Claude Lemand. Doctor in Comparative Literature, former uni­ver­sity pro­fessor. Collector since 1981, gal­lerist and Art pub­lisher in Paris since 1988, major donor to the museum of the Institut du monde arabe, art his­tory researcher and exhi­bi­tion curator.
