Salwa Mikdadi, FORCES OF CHANGE. Artists of the Arab World.
1994. Arab-American feminist writers and artists, gathered around the academic Salwa Mikdadi, organized the first major collective exhibition in the USA of artworks by 70 women artists from the Arab world and the diasporas: Forces of Change. Artists of the Arab World, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.
They published an important illustrated book, with long studies by Salwa Mikdadi, Laura Nader, Etel Adnan, Wijdan Ali and other specialists.
For Baya, a large gouache was exhibited and published, lent by the Museum of the Institut du monde arabe in Paris. This exhibition had been preceded by the visit to Blida in July 1993 by Salwa Mikdadi, who had filmed her interview with Baya.
